The Hydros Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of the registration for this Hydrocontest 2017, to take place next July in Lausanne. Teams are called to get their hands on the new official rules and to submit their application by 31st of January 2017.

The top Swiss and French schools have dominated the 2016 edition of the HydroContest. In the “light weight” category, the Centrale from Nantes affirmed their authority, whilst against all odds, ENSTA Bretagne – Paris-La-Villette won in the “heavy weight” category. The long-distance race was marked by the triumph of Freiburg’s Haute Ecole d’Ingénierie et d’Architecture (HEIA).

After 3 days of fierce qualifications, 16 schools will take part in the final stages of the HydroContest on Thursday, in the two competition categories: “heavy boats” which simulate the displacement of a cargo ship with 200 kg ballast on board, and “light boats” which represent the transport of people on a pleasure craft with only 20 kg on board.

Everything is ready for the 3rd edition of the HydroContest, a competition unique in the world in which 250 students from 12 different countries from Europe, Pacific Asia and South America, including 5 new nations. The aim is to imagine, design, create and pilot an innovative boat which is both fast and energy efficient.
